Taylor Swift donates $5million to Hurricane Helene and Milton relief efforts
Hurricane Milton, which made landfall on Wednesday, is being described as “the storm of the century”
Taylor Swift has donated a whopping US$5million to Feeding America for Hurricane Helene and Milton relief efforts.
Earlier this month, Hurricane Helene made landfall across the Southeastern states of the US, laying waste to cities such as Georgia, Florida, North Carolina and many more.
At the time of writing, the hurricane has resulted in an estimate of more than 220 deaths, while hundreds of others remain missing. Hundreds of thousands of homes are without power and infrastructural damage is widespread.
Now, the non-profit organisation Feeding America has revealed that Taylor Swift has made a “generous $5million donation” that will be used to “help communities rebuild and recover, providing essential food, clean water, and supplies to people affected by these devastating storms.”
Feeding America continued: “Together, we can make a real impact in supporting families as they navigate the challenges ahead. Thank you, Taylor, for standing with us in the movement to end hunger and for helping communities in need.”
This isn’t the first time that Taylor Swift has helped communities in need. Throughout the course of her career-spanning ‘Eras’ tour, the singer-songwriter has quietly made major donations to foodbanks across the US and UK.
