Prince william’s heartbreaking reason behind moving Kate Middleton and kids to Windsor

Two years ago, Prince William made the decision to move Kate Middleton and their children to a cottage in Windsor and there was a truly wholesome – but heartbreaking – motivation behind it.
When it comes to royal residences, the royal families don’t exactly have a small cohort to choose from.
Williams and Kate made the decision to move their family from London to Windsor, swapping out Kensington Palace for a more low-key home.

The couple chose Adelaide Cottage in Windsor Home Park to create their new home, and despite being a four-bedroom house, it was still relatively smaller than what they had been used to.

Several reasons played into why they decided to move, but the main, very heartwarming motive has been particularly praised.
Prince Philip had just died before the family moved, meaning it came at a time when when the queen needed her family around.

Royal author and journalist Robert Jobson, revealed why he thought the family had moved in his latest book, Catherine, Princess of Wales.
He suggested: “[William] knew his time with his grandmother was precious and he is delighted they, as a couple, made that decision.
“Catherine understood that for William, as a future king, it was important for him to be geographically closer to the late Queen in her final months, when he was required to support both her and his father. It made a real difference.

“They were in regular contact, seeing each other in person and speaking on the phone several times a week, bringing them even closer.”
The late Queen passed away just months after the family moved to Windsor, but knowing that they got to spend those final moments closer to her would have meant a lot.
However, the couple have reportedly maintained their apartment at Kensington Palace, and are currently using it as office space.
They live full-time in Windsor, and the children attend Lambrook School which is located nearby.

In his latest book, Jobson has revealed more details about the couple’s early dating life, putting a lot of speculation to rest.
The pair briefly split after five years of dating while they both attended university at St Andrews.
According to claims in the book, while rumours of a proposal were in the air, it’s safe to say that William got a major case of cold feet and ended it with the future princess in a 30-minute phone conversation.
Months after the altercation, they saw each other at a friend’s Halloween party, and of course, rekindled their romance.

As they say, the rest is history.
