Dillian Whyte Begs for AJ Rematch! – ‘I’m Up For The Fight’

Dillian Whyte has called out Anthony Joshua as he tries desperately to secure a rematch.

Joshua knocked out Whyte in the seventh round during their 2015 clash. The win set up a world title fight against Charles Martin. Joshua won that fight to win the IBF Heavyweight Title, the first time he became a champion. Their careers went in different directions. Joshua became a Unified Heavyweight Champion before losing his belts. Meanwhile, Whyte has yet to win a world title. Joshua’s last fight was a knockout loss to Daniel Dubois. Joshua was dropped three times before the stoppage.

Whyte’s previous fight was a seventh-round stoppage win over Ebenezer Tetteh. That was his third consecutive win. Whyte was meant to rematch Joshua in 2023. But he failed a test, which he was later cleared for. But Robert Helenius got the Joshua fight instead. Whyte now wants his opportunity after Tyson Fury’s retirement. That was Joshua’s biggest possible fight. But Fury announced his retirement after his second consecutive loss against Oleksandr Usyk. Whyte now wants his shot.

Whyte On Joshua
“[Joshua] Sounds perfect for me. They don’t need to ask me twice. They talk about me as an option, but they haven’t said anything to me, so it’s just negotiation tactics from them. But I’m up for the fight and I’m ready to fight again. If he wants to fight, then all they’ve got to do is call me. I’m always up for fighting AJ. No problem for me. However, personally, I think he’s finished,” Whyte said

Joshua is in the latter part of his career, meaning he will want to secure the biggest paydays. There is the opportunity to face Dubois in the rematch, which would give him a world title. He also has plenty of doubters to prove wrong after failing to turn up in that fight. There was a perception that Joshua was back to his best before this loss. There has also been talk of a Deontay Wilder fight.

Joshua’s Options
They were on course to face each other for undisputed. Reports indicated that Wilder’s team made a $50 million offer. But talks broke down as both men lost their belts. Wilder is not in the best of form, having lost his last two bouts. This may be the perfect opportunity to face Wilder. It still has the demand to sell out, making it an appealing fight. That puts Whyte further down the pecking order. Whyte felt Joshua made a mistake in not putting the Dubois loss right immediately.

I think he made a huge mistake not taking the immediate rematch with Dubois. It was a world title fight, a great payday and the perfect opportunity to avenge his knockout loss. He will forever have to suffer the memes of being face-planted at Wembley by Dubois.I want to fight AJ and Tyson again because they both beat me, although it’s one-all with AJ. He will turn up to fight me. If me and AJ fight, if we’re 100 years-old, he’ll turn up to fight me,” Whyte stated
