The Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn era ended a while ago. Swift has been happily dating Chiefs TE Travis Kelce for over a year now, even being by his side in two different Super Bowls—one he won, and one he didn’t.

Alwyn, meanwhile, has stayed away from the spotlight since the split, though he did appear in one of the Oscar-nominated movies this year, The Brutalist.It was because of The Brutalist that Alwyn graced the Oscars red carpet for the 97th Academy Awards. And he did so looking sharpy in a tailored black tuxedo and bowtie. It was his very obvious accessory, however, that turned heads—particularly because of how similar it was to one worn by none other than Travis Kelce, Swift’s new boyfriend

That’s right, Alwyn sported a sparkling brooch on his lapel that a lot of people thought looked very similar to Kelce’s brooch at the 2025 Super Bowl. Alwyn’s brooch was shaped like a flower and featured a ruby-colored stone and purple and orange diamond-encrusted stones. Back in January, Kelce sported a gold rose brooch, though the didn’t pair it with a black tuxedo, but with a burnt-orange suit. The broach didn’t seem to bring Kelce much luck as the Kansas City Chiefs were defeated by the Philadelphia Eagles 40 to 22 in the biggest NFL game of the year.

Broaches seemed to be a thing at this year’s Oscars, with celebrities like Kit Connor also seen sporting them.

Alwyn, who was a presenter at the ceremony, recently told The Guardian about his previous relationship with Swift. “I have tried just to focus on controlling what I can control.” Which, sometimes isn’t much. “Right from the beginning, tried to focus on the things that are meaningful for me: friends, family, work, of course,” he added. “So noise outside of that, I think I’ve done what lots of people who find themselves in the public eye do, which is just try and ignore it.”

Swifties had a lot to say about Alwyn’s presence at the Oscars, with a number of fans referring to him as a “jobless loser” as Alwyn walked the red carpet. But fans were slamming him on X even from before the ceremony, with one saying, “Joe alwyn has been out of a job for a long a– time, he’s had two roles in like a decade. bro is not good at what he does and has zero work ethic idk, if y’all want us to stop dragging him stop giving him unearned praise.”

They also criticized his “boring” suit, and compared him to a waiter, with one fan saying, “i didnt know they letting the waiters on the red carpet as well.”
